Two Years of Fog

Where the marine layer actually sits

Two years of hourly NOAA GOES-18 satellite imagery over 210 Bay Area zones, asking of every pixel whether a low cloud deck was sitting on top of it. Lakeshore is under the marine layer 53.2% of summer hours; Candlestick Point SRA manages 25.6%. Fog is not eyeballed from a threshold: a gradient-boosted classifier was trained against 16 airport weather stations and scored on stations it never saw. Pick any one of the 210 zones and every chart on the page switches to it.
